The AROS Show is here to help provide AROS information and to help promote the AROS Operating System.

Damocles intelligently posted an enquiring message on AROS-exec.org recently. He asked what was currently in development because there hasn't been much news lately. I totally agree and I'm really glad he posted this. He received some good responses. I'll try to sum them up a bit here.

The few that Damocles knew about were:
1. tcp/ip bridge for Linux hosted AROS.
2. Driver for NICs Rhine2 and RTL8139
3. USB
4. DragNDrop

I have mentioned some of these here at The AROS Show before.
A newcomer to AROS named Rob. (I can't find his full name right now.) I know he probably posted to the AROS dev list, but like a dummy, I probably deleted the e-mail. Anyway, I'm sure I'll find out at some point. Well, Rob has commented that he is writing a network driver that will give network to Linux-hosted AROS via the TUN/TAP interface. He states it has already sent and received it's first packets. What is really great is Rob has an interesting blog where you can read more details about his work.

Markus Weiss is trying to add support for GDC which is a D Programming Language front end. If you haven't heard about this language, it is a newer language that is proposed as an improvement over C++. To quote Markus "I had the impression it has everything I like about C++ and almost nothing I don't like." I was even talking with Oliver Adams about D on the #AROS irc channel today. He was interested in it too. He said it reminded him of Amiga E. A very popular language created by Wouter van Oortmerssen. Let's hope Markus comes through and provides us with D!

Mithrandir posted about the ongoing development of AROSAmp. Here is what he had to say:
"Well, I'm working on the next release of AROSAmp. It will include a fully skinnable interface, and if everything goes as planned, the user will be able to create a fully modular skin, decided what should be in it, and where, based on the features that are currently available.
Other than that I'm hoping to add a more advanced settings interaction so the user can tweak the player further to suit ones needs. It should hopefully be able to save the configuration. We'll see if I can get that done also before the next release."

Last but not least, M0ns00n said Lunapaint 0.3.1 is on the way! Here is a list of features he is working on.

* DeluxePaint keyboard shortcuts in addition to old ones
* Speed improvements
* Layer names and controls (opacity, visibility)
* Fullscreen canvas
* Bug fixes
* Usability improvements (less unexpected behaviour)
* Text support (using ft2) - only utilizing TTF for now
* Keyboard navigation in canvas window
* Beginning of layer objects

So things are still hopping along in AROS land! I'm really excited about all of this new stuff coming our way. We have increased activity in AROS that started near the last part of 2006. 2007 is bursting out of the gate with a BANG!
