Paolo Besser has released a new version of VmwAROS! This is what has changed since the last beta.
Go here to download.

This preliminary version of VmwAROS is still in beta
stage, this means not all the software contained in
the virtual hard drives have been completely tested.

HISTORY

From VmwAROS beta 0.1 something has changed:

+ Added more games, including Doom, Quake and the
freeware version of Beneath a Steel Sky, running on
top of ScummVM

+ Updated Murks! Ide to version 0.5.2, with a newer
icoset for toolbar

+ Updated ConfigIP to a newer version, which works
correctly and does exactly what is meant to do

+ Added and re-configured AmiStart.

+ Added a general application icon, which should
make easier running interesting files. It applies
both to executables and shell scripts.

+ Memory size reduced from 256 to 128 MB.

+ Default english locale and keymap.

There are still some known issues:

- AmiStart calendar does not appears correctly

this is due to the way AmiStart is called
at VmwAROS startup. It will be fixed in
next releases.

- Amistart crashes by pressing TAB in a shell

Pressing the TAB key into a shell causes
Amistart to crash with a CON: window on the
screen. This problem has been reported to
Amistart author, but it hasn't been yet fixed
in the version stored on VmwAROS.

In order to workaround this, please exit
Amistart whenever running a shell, or avoid
pressing the TAB key for auto-completion.

- Date and Time are wrong

After some testing, it seems AROS has
problems getting the right time and date
from some system BIOSes. This is not an
AmiStart or VmwAROS related problem.

- ConfigIP still requires restating

In order to change the IP address, a reboot
is still needed. So please cnhange IP only
when you're doing nothing else.

- VmwAROS doesn't run on some filesystems

Some filesystems can't access to files larger
than 2 GB. VmwAROS virtual disks are wider,
so the best option is to store the virtual
machine on a host partition formatted with a
modern filesystem, such as ext3 or NTFS.

- Some old WB themes still doesn't work.
